Growing customer response is driving Amazon Great Indian Festival 2024

Amazon Great Indian Festival (AGIF) 2024 saw 11 crore customer visits in the first 48 hours and over 8,000 sellers with sales of over 1 lakh in the first two days of the event, starting from September 26.

Last year, the number of customer visits in the first 48 hours was 9.5 crore. The growth in customer base shows the popularity of AGIF and the growth of e-commerce across the country, said Kishore Thota, director, India and emerging markets, Amazon.

Talking to reporters on Friday, he said customers saved ₹240 crore on purchases in the first 48 hours of sale.

Good enthusiasm

Customers from Kerala have been very enthusiastic, showing strong demand for smartphones, clothing, beauty products and more. He added that there is a strong growth in sales in cities like Kochi and Thiruvananthapuram, which shows the growing importance of regional markets in the e-commerce landscape.

To make shopping more conversational, he said, the company has also introduced Gen AI products such as its AI-generated customer review highlights feature, which includes a short paragraph highlighting product features and customer sentiment based on reviews. The company has also partnered with over 50,000 content creators and social media influencers through the Amazon Influencer Program.

Additionally, the company announced significant increases in standard commission rates for key categories such as fashion, cosmetics and personal care, home, kitchen, toys, books, etc.

The company also launched new fulfillment centers in various regions and facilitated the creation of over 110,000 seasonal jobs across its operational network to meet growing customer demand during the festival season.
