AI on iPhone: expected innovations in Apple Intelligence

Apple will soon release a software update that will integrate the new Apple Intelligence artificial intelligence system with iPhone, iPad and Mac devices. The update will include new features aimed at improving the user experience, focusing on images, texts and personal assistant Siri. This is a significant step for Apple, which aims to lead the artificial intelligence market and make up for the gap that has opened in recent years against competitors such as OpenAI and Google.

The first innovations in the update include capabilities such as automatic transcription of audio recordings, automatic text editing and cleaning images of disturbing objects. This update is primarily intended to make everyday use easier for users, but it does not include all the features that are to be added to the system in the coming year. One interesting possibility is the ability for Siri to provide assistance in managing various Apple devices, in order to simplify the use of various features of the operating system.

Here are the main tools in Apple Intelligence:

1. Transcription of audio recordings

Among the most useful tools available in the update is the audio transcription option in the Voice Memos app. Now, when recording voice messages or meetings, you will be able to receive an accurate text transcription along with the file. This is an important improvement for users who need quick and convenient access to recorded content, especially for business people and students. However, in the first stage it will be possible in English and later in other languages. The date for the integration of the Hebrew language has not yet been announced, but it is expected that it will not happen in the coming months.

2. Improved Siri assistance

Personal assistant Siri is getting a significant upgrade. Now users will be able to get more advanced help managing their Apple devices, with clear instructions on how to use apps and hidden features. It’s a tool that will help users get the most out of Apple’s extensive system, especially when it comes to features that lie deep in the settings menu. Siri will initially be able to communicate with specific applications and perform a number of related tasks. However, it will not fully support the Hebrew language yet.

3. Text editing tool

Another improvement concerns the text area: Apple Intelligence includes tools for automatic text editing, e.g. creating quick replies to e-mail messages. These tools make it easier to write and edit quickly, especially for users who need effective communication solutions throughout the day.

4. Cleaning Images (Cleanup)

Despite high expectations for the photo cleaning feature, initial reviews indicate problems with the quality of the result. This feature was intended to remove unwanted objects, such as extra people, from the image, but various experiments produced disappointing results where the objects were replaced by blurry and indistinct pixels. Despite its potential, this is a feature that still needs improvement.

5. Summary of texts

Another function is the ability to summarize texts from e-mails, websites and documents. While this is an interesting feature that allows you to quickly generate summaries, it is not always accurate. For example, when you compiled a web article, the result contained fatal errors. This feature is not ready for full use yet and users will have to wait for future updates. Hebrew language support is not yet available here either.

The update is expected to be available for newer devices, including the iPhone 16 and iPhone 15 Pro, as well as some iPad and Mac models released in the last four years.
