GLOBE Eclipse and Civil Air Patrol: Astronomy Collaboration

For the first time in CAP history, cadets and senior members participated in missions from all wings (U.S. state), as well as two U.S. territories and two Canadian provinces. More than 400 teams consisting of more than 3,000 cadets and more than 1,000 senior members collected air temperatures, clouds, winds and precipitation for a total of 4 hours before, during and after the eclipse. This effort was led by Captain Shannon Babb, who organized the mission with an aviation education team from the Rocky Mountain region.
