The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast moderate thunderstorms, lightning and rainfall at several places in Chennai and Thiruvallur districts till 10 am on Tuesday. It also warned of light rain, thunderstorm and lightning in isolated areas of Chengalpattu and Kancheepuram districts.

Government mobilizes resources in response to heavy rains

During the meeting, the Chennai Corporation Commissioner said that 990 pumps and 57 tractors equipped with pump sets were ready for deployment. Additionally, 36 motorboats, along with 46 tons of bleaching powder, 25 tons of powdered lime and phenol, were prepared for immediate use.
