Ørsted is boosting energy in the UK with its Mega Battery project

Orsted (DOGEF) has released an update.

Ørsted A/S is to boost the UK’s renewable energy capacity with a large-scale battery energy storage system located near the Hornsea 3 offshore wind farm, with the aim of stabilizing energy supplies and reducing price volatility for consumers. The 600 MWh storage system, one of the largest in Europe, will store excess energy during periods of increased generation and release it when needed, thereby maximizing the use of renewable energy and supporting grid balance. Scheduled to come online in late 2026, the project complements Ørsted’s existing portfolio of renewable energy solutions and represents a significant investment in the UK’s clean energy infrastructure.
