The Stafford County School Board has approved amendments to its code of conduct, which governs how students use communication devices on school property.

The new regulation aims to create a more structured approach to managing the use of electronic devices, including personal computers, mobile phones, electronic and wireless devices, headphones, earbuds, smart watches, wearables, Bluetooth-enabled devices and other devices that can manage calls, messages and images.

The amended regulation prohibits students from using personal cell phones and electronic devices during the regular school day, defined as the bell from the start of classes to the bell at the end of classes. These devices must be placed out of sight, silenced or turned off, and kept in a backpack or personal bag.
