The forestry sector welcomes the Government’s intention to engage and drive growth

Today’s announcements by Minister of Forestry Todd McClay on the development of the forestry sector will resonate with industry leaders in the forestry and wood products sectors, says FIEA Events Director John Stulen.

“With our sector delivering the most environmentally friendly exports and land use benefits, all while reducing New Zealand’s carbon emissions compared to other materials, it’s great to see the Government showing it wants to grow this sector. “Everything we do for the industry is consistent with the intention of the Minister’s vision today.”

“This all happens when we host events in environmental forestry, wood residue, carbon forestry, ForestTECH and WoodWorks. These technology conferences focus on bringing together leaders and innovators along with practical foresters, sawmills and mass timber construction managers to increase the sector’s productivity and efficiency.

The government’s vision for the development of the forestry sector aligns well with FIEA events:

  1. Boosting economic growth through jobs and exports; (ForestTECH)
  2. Providing low carbon solutions and products; (Wood remains)
  3. Supporting land use resilience, adaptation, biodiversity and social benefits; (Wood residues and environmental forestry)

  4. Ensuring carbon removal to support climate goals. (carbon forestry)

“Our conferences on forestry and wood technology fit very well into today’s specific visions of the Minister,” says Stulen. We also work closely with MPI officials and other industry groups and technology providers to help practical people in the industry improve their industry while keeping their feet on the ground.”

“Our FIEA technology conference team looks forward to advancing forestry with the continued support of the Ministry of Forests, industry leaders and our innovators and service providers at these high-demand events.”

“Everything we do for the industry is aimed at developing and improving results. For over 25 years, we have worked with industry to bring innovators to the podium to share their successes with others. This formula continues to work well, and industry support is always a strength. We see great responses when these hands-on groups of hard-working people share their breakthrough with others who love their work in forests across the country.”
