Abstract

The article examines the need to contextualize the events, emphasizing that understanding is not tantamount to justifying terrorism. Drawing on the insights of Ian S. Lustick and historical parallels to the post-9/11 response, this article argues that ignoring the broader context can lead to disastrous consequences. The analysis examines the current rhetoric and actions of Israeli leaders and the potential long-term impact on Israel’s security and international standing. The purpose of this discussion is to emphasize the importance of taking into account the historical context to prevent further escalation and suffering.
