Funny Women NextUp… Comedy Short Film Award

Are you a beginner director? Producer? Screenwriter? Are you collaborating with friends to create a funny video? Then we are looking for YOU!

If you have a short film or sketch that you think is hilarious, submit your work to the Comedy Shorts Award for a chance to gain life-changing support and mentoring from comedy industry professionals.

WHAT MOVIE ARE YOU LOOKING FOR?

A film lasting from 1 to 6 minutes, which can take any comic form. This is a great opportunity to show us your creative talent and have fun!

WHO CAN ENTER?

This award is open to all filmmakers and content creators. The film must be an original narrative created, produced and conceived by a woman or women, although male cast and crew members may be involved.

ARE THERE ANY REQUIREMENTS FOR MY VIDEO?

Yes – we require all videos to be a maximum of 6 minutes long, contain completely original dialogue, contain no brand logos and, most importantly, use music only with the written consent of the artist and/or publisher, either in person or via the PRS system https://www.prsformusic.com/ .

WHAT WILL YOU DO WITH MY VIDEO?

We will be broadcasting selected entries on our Funny Women YouTube channel and social media (so stay tuned), and the top 10 finalists’ videos will also be featured on the dedicated Funny Women Comedy Shorts Awards page on our website. We will also broadcast the last 3 entries as part of the grand finale evening.

HOW IS IT EVALUATED?

Films are judged on production, concept, execution/execution, creativity, script and overall entertainingness. The top 10 films will then be viewed by an independent judging panel of leading television and film industry professionals who will select one overall winner and two runners-up. The final three will be invited to participate in the grand final, which will take place on September 23 in London.
