Blackburn confirm key appointments as former players and staff return

Last week, the Lancashire Telegraph newspaper reported that Park was set to return to Ewood Park after leaving in 2022. The head of recruitment left after Tony Mowbray’s contract expired.

Rovers have restructured their recruitment department following the departure of sporting director Gregg Broughton from the club. The club has now also confirmed the departure of Sean Kimberley, who served as director of recruitment.

Park will now assume this role as director of admissions. Rovers are also expected to appoint Adam Owen as technical director, but this has not yet been formally announced.

Chief executive Steve Waggott, head coach John Eustace and Park will now spearhead Rovers’ transfer plans for the summer. They will also need to appoint a new head of UK scouting as Tom Sutton has joined Huddersfield Town.

Gestede took over as head of football operations at Rovers. The former striker told The Lancashire Telegraph last year that he had attended a sports general manager course in Manchester.

“I want to cooperate with the club at the executive level to influence the organization of the club,” he said in an exclusive interview.

“I want to see clubs like Brentford and Brighton grow. When they had just been promoted to the Championship, I said they would be in the Premier League because of the way they were managed and the stability they had.

“They know how to make a plan and stick to it. I’d like to find a club that can do it and we’ll see how high we can go.”

It is known that the 35-year-old has been playing for Rovers for the last 12 months and will now take up a permanent position at the club.
