Tech Mahindra’s subsidiary, Comviva, has appointed key executives to drive its business expansion in Europe and North America. The move is strategic and aims to accelerate growth and develop deeper customer relationships in the rapidly evolving digital economy.

The new position of director of the Direct Business Market Unit in North America will be led by Ian Paul Smith. His role is to establish and nurture strategic alliances with telecommunications companies throughout the area. With over 20 years of experience in sales and senior management positions at leading global technology companies such as Amdocs, Ericsson and Microsoft, among others, he is best equipped to oversee Comviva’s growth in North America.

To increase its focus on Europe, Comviva has decided to divide the region into two autonomous sub-regions: Europe 1 and Europe 2. Each sub-region will have senior management responsible for improving its focus on telecommunications markets.

Markets in France, the Iberian Peninsula, Italy and all Eastern European countries, including Russia, will now be managed by Salah Rich, who has been appointed head of the Europe 1 subregion. Salah has been with Comviva since 2012; for over thirty years in management positions in the areas of technology and sales.

Rishi Ramphal has been appointed head of the Europe 2 sub-region, where he will oversee direct sales operations in emerging markets such as the Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg, Germany, Switzerland, the Nordics, the United Kingdom and Ireland. He was previously the Chief Information Officer at MTN Group and is currently also the Chief Delivery Officer at Comviva; brings with him extensive, global experience in providing support services to telecommunications companies.

“These strategic appointments of Rajesh Chandiramani, CEO of Comviva, reflect our determination to accelerate our growth rate while strengthening our presence in important markets. This will enable us to remain innovative and work closely with our customers through Ian, Salah and Rishi, who will lead our vision for the future in North America and Europe. They have demonstrated competence combined with a long track record in the industry and will help enable Comviva to expand its global footprint and add value to the digital economy. We are confident that their leadership will propel us toward sustained growth and greater success in these critical regions.”

On June 1, Rajesh Chandiramani took over as CEO and full-time director of Comviva. Chandiramani replaces Manoranjan “Mao” Mohapatra, who retired at the end of May after a distinguished tenure. Mohapatra will remain on Comviva’s board as a non-executive director. This leadership change coincides with Comviva’s 25th anniversary, confirming the company’s commitment to growth as a leader in intelligent software platforms.
