According to Sumesh Patel, president, Asia-Pacific, SITA, the government under Prime Minister Modi has provided Indians with affordable and wider access to air travel over the last 10 years. The Prime Minister Modi-led government’s focus on the aviation sector has led to a significant increase in the number of airports in the country.

The aviation ministry recently reviewed the complete list of 453 airports in the country and about 157 of them are operational.
