Zooplus is working on a trading platform

The German online pet supply store Zooplus plans to launch its own marketplace. Thanks to this, the platform will be able to quickly expand its product offer. The marketplace is scheduled to launch in November, but it is unclear in which regions.

Zooplus is an online store that sells pet supplies, such as toys and pet food. Earlier this year, the company expanded its subscription model, which then became available in 8 markets. This helps customers automate recurring purchases, such as pet food, and set shipping frequency. The company announced then that it would expand the subscription model to 20 European markets.

Premiere at the end of this year

Earlier this week, Geoffroy Lefebvre, CEO of Zooplus, announced that the company was working on launching its own marketplace. He said the online trading platform would be launched in November. It is unclear whether the platform will be available in all of the company’s existing markets or only in its home country of Germany.

“We want to meet the needs of every pet parent”

Thanks to the new market, the company will be able to quickly expand its product offer. Lefebvre said the main reason for the launch is to expand customer capabilities. “So that we can meet the needs of every pet parent.”

Higher valuation

For now, Zooplus has refrained from creating a marketplace. According to the German newspaper Lebensmittel Zeitung, the company will probably be valued higher due to the increase in revenues with the launch of the marketplace. This may increase the attractiveness of the company in the eyes of potential future buyers.
