The NCWRC has charged more than 25 Richmond County hunters with hundreds of violations.

The new regulations enter into force on August 1, 2024

On May 16, NCWRC officials adopted new rules for the 2024-25 seasons, effective August 1, 2024. The new rules were approved at the Commission’s February business meeting and approved by the Rules and Review Committee in the spring.

The new rules include the following:

Wildlife Poaching Bounty Scheme: Include inland fishing offenses to be eligible for the scheme.

Deer Hunting: Postponed several blackpowder and gun seasons.

Game Areas: A Small Game Focal Area should be established at Caswell as an exclusive hunting area for quail and woodcock, with a point of sale permit only for rabbit and squirrel hunting outside the normal three-day-a-week framework.

Trout Water Classification: Remove wild trout/natural bait water classification from public mountain trout waters.
