Gadget Watch: AI Pin presents a handy AI assistant

This is a wireless device developed by the start-up Humane, which has been recognized by the excellent Wireless Quarter module from Nordic Semiconductor. Think of it as a small, customizable, handy AI assistant.

“Humane Ai Pin is an innovative wearable device that redefines interaction with artificial intelligence, offering a discreet but effective way to stay connected and in control,” say the creators.

Consisting of a visible display, a battery booster module housed inside the garment, and a “beacon” for transmitting messages, the device can apparently talk to the wearer/user to help find information, including email searches. It was emphasized that the device can even serve as a translator, translating languages…


There is a Panasonic speaker on board for audio (AAC), and the Pin supports Voice over LTE (VoLTE) and 3G communication.

To interact with your Pin, you can tilt and rotate your hand (see right) and then use various gestures on your device. For example, you can double tap to answer or end a call, or play or pause music…

“Ai Pin was designed with your privacy and personal space in mind. Activation only on command, without warning words, to ensure that what is private stays private. The Trust Light clearly indicates when a photo is being taken to create an atmosphere of trust,” writes Humane.

Dimensions

The main unit, measuring 47.50 mm by 44.50 mm and weighing 34.2 g, is equipped with a Corning Gorilla Glass display and a photo resolution of 13 MP, 4160 x 3120 pixels, with video at 30 frames per second (1080p). Inside the clothes, the battery booster measures 47.16 mm by 45.2 mm and weighs 20.5 g.

How much is it? There are three versions available – Eclipse, Equinox and Lunar – and prices start at $699.
