Proposed regulations could impact climbers in California

The state Senate approved the proposal on Thursday. It would prohibit school districts from adopting or enforcing policies requiring school personnel to disclose a student’s gender identity or sexual orientation to anyone else without the child’s consent, with certain exceptions.

Last year, at least six school districts in California adopted parent notification measures. But California Attorney General Rob Bonta he vowed fight them in court.

After legislative leaders failed to reach an agreement with Gov. Gavin Newsom to shut down the California project multi-billion deficitOn Thursday, just before the mandatory deadline, the Legislature passed a replacement state budget.

Only a few weeks left until the start new financial year on July 1both sides refuse to publicly discuss what specific issues are holding up the agreement.

Newsom’s office and his Finance Department declined to answer questions about remaining differences with the Legislature that still need to be resolved. Representatives for Senate President Pro Tem Mike McGuire and Assembly Speaker Robert Rivas, who are in charge of negotiations with the governor, did not release them to the media after their members approved a spending plan that will almost certainly not be an actual budget.
