Missing connecting roads: PMC seeks Rs 100-crore state fund for land acquisition

The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has sent a proposal to the state government for allocation of funds 100 crore for land acquisition for construction of missing link roads to solve traffic problems.

During last week’s inspection of Vidyapeeth Chowk, Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar instructed officials to prepare a proposal regarding the missing connections and submit it to the state government. The PMC Road Department on Thursday submitted 100 crore funding application to Additional Chief Secretary Finance (Planning) for the project.

Nikhil Mijar, traffic planner, PMC, said, “The civic body has given priority to link roads blocked at distances of 1-100 meters, 100-500, 500-1000 and above. In the first stage, 33 missing links will be connected. So far, 14 connections have been acquired, three have been connected, and work is ongoing on the remaining ones. We currently plan to work on and search for the five main missing links 100 crore for land acquisition as most of the owners demanded monetary compensation.”
