Taiwan claims that the new regulation by the China Coast Guard undermines peace and stability in the region

Taipei (Taiwan), June 15 (ANI): Taiwan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) said on Friday that new regulations that will allow the China Coast Guard (CCG) to board ships and detain foreigners accused of trespassing in the country violate international law – reports Taiwan News.

In a statement, Taiwan’s MOFA said the unilateral implementation of China’s law undermines regional peace and stability. It said the new law would not only create regional tensions but would also impact the security of regional commercial shipping and fishing activities.

Taiwan’s MOFA said it would closely monitor developments and condemned China’s lack of respect for relevant provisions of international law and the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS).

The new measure, known as Regulation No. 3, which will implement the China Coast Guard (CCG) Regulation Act of 2021, is scheduled to come into force on June 15.
