Thailand launches 72 million tree initiative to celebrate Her Majesty The Queen’s 72nd birthday

Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin said the project unites volunteers from all sectors who are involved in planting and caring for trees, and its aim is to restore the richness of nature and provide clean air to society.

To celebrate His Majesty the King’s 72nd birthday on July 28, the government launched the ’72 Million Trees for Forest Renewal’ project.

Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin said the project unites volunteers from all sectors who are involved in planting and caring for trees, and its aim is to restore the richness of nature and provide clean air to society. The goal is to plant a total of 72 million trees across the country. The Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment has been designated as the lead agency responsible for registration, procurement of seedlings and collection of data on tree planting by various agencies, organizations and groups for future maintenance and care.

Srettha also mentioned that this project is one of the 10 initiatives taken by the government. Moreover, different sectors are organizing various projects to celebrate this auspicious occasion. These initiatives provide all sectors with the opportunity to engage in important activities with society. We therefore invite government agencies, the private sector and the public to come together to demonstrate their loyalty and unity to the Thai people in tribute to His Majesty the King. These efforts also aim to continue and maintain His Majesty’s commitment to sustainable development in the protection and restoration of forests. (NNT)
