Samsung One UI 6 Watch Beta strengthens the Galaxy Watch with Galaxy AI

Better health with new Galaxy Watch AI features

Update availability is announced on the Samsung Community Forum, which includes a comprehensive changelog. Highlights include the Galaxy AI suite of features, which includes a new energy score in the Samsung Health app.

As described, the tool uses machine learning capabilities to read your physical and mental readiness based on activities and values, as well as sleep amount. You can then view the result along with recommendations if you need more rest or if you’re ready to hit the gym or treadmill.

Galaxy AI also improves sleep tracking with more accurate and detailed readings. This adds data such as time to fall asleep, heart rate and respiratory rate to your sleep statistics.

In the fitness section, Galaxy AI will also enable customizable workouts, where you can combine a series of exercises into one workout. Goals, reps and other factors can also be set with a customized workout.

Double pinch and more control on Galaxy Watch

Before Apple added Double Tap to the Apple Watch, Samsung smartwatches had long used universal gestures for touchless control. The Koreans are expanding it with the beta version of One UI 6 Watch.

With the update, you can use the double pinch gesture (tapping your index finger and thumb twice) to perform major actions such as answering calls, pausing/stopping workouts, pressing the shutter button in the remote camera app, and more. Likewise, universal gestures will automatically switch between quick action and focus modes.

Touchless control is also supported, allowing you to return to the previous menu by moving your wrist back and forth. Meanwhile, modes on the Galaxy Watch have been given the ability to control various actions and shortcuts, including raise to wake and do not disturb.

Interface and system update

One of the visual changes coming with the software is a new list of currently performed activities. To view the list, simply tap the bottom of the watch face. More importantly, the One UI 6 Watch beta also changes the default font to a more modern one.

In terms of usability, you can save image attachments in messages on your Galaxy Watch and set your favorite emojis. Moreover, when you start playing music on the watch, automatic pairing with previously paired headphones and speakers is activated.

Which Galaxy Watch One UI 6 Watch Beta is compatible with?

Samsung says the One UI 6 Watch beta is available for the Galaxy Watch 6 (review) and Galaxy Watch 6 Classic as part of the beta program. But it should also support the Galaxy Watch 4 and Galaxy Watch 5 (review) series running on Wear OS 4.

Currently, users in the US and South Korea can only participate in the program, and there are no details on when the beta and final updates will be released in more countries.
