Body found in Mississippi River in Davenport, investigation ongoing

DAVENPORT, Iowa (KWQC) – The Davenport Police Department has launched a death investigation after a body was found in the Mississippi River.

According to a police press release, at approximately 1:03 pm on Thursday, the Scott Emergency Communications Center received a report of a body found in the river at the LeClaire Park riverfront. Police and firefighters who arrived at the scene said they found the body of an adult woman in the river.

According to media reports, the forensic examiner stated that the body had been left “in the river for a long time.” An autopsy was planned to determine the identity and cause of death.

Police said this incident is under investigation.
