Your Pixel phone may be at risk of security vulnerabilities that you barely notice, so Google recommends updating it to the latest version.

According to BleepingComputer, Google made these fixes available in the June Pixel updates. Of the 50 vulnerabilities patched by the search engine giant, seven are rated “critical” while 24 are rated “high severity.”

Understanding the Zero-Day Exploit

Unfortunately, the details of how hackers exploited this vulnerability will likely remain undisclosed until more Pixel owners update their devices.

Tech companies like Google and Apple typically don’t reveal details about zero days to avoid helping hackers.

Exclusive features and regular updates

One of the reasons why Google’s Pixel devices are considered high-end Android phones is because of their regular updates. In addition to standard Android updates, Pixel phones get extra security and bug fixes with exclusive features like Guided Frame, Audio Magic Editor, and Highlight Shot.

How to protect your Pixel phone from hackers

Update your device regularly

The most effective way to protect your Pixel phone from hackers is to install updates as soon as they become available. The Sun reports that to update your Pixel phone, follow these steps.

  1. Go to settings.
  2. Select Security & Privacy.
  3. Tap on System & Updates.
  4. Scroll down to Security Update and tap Install.
  5. Once your phone restarts, the latest updates will be applied.

Turn on Google Play Protection

Make sure Google Play Protect is turned on on your Pixel phone. This pre-installed antivirus app from Google scans existing and new apps for malware. For added security, consider using one of the best antivirus apps for Android. Many of these apps offer additional security features such as VPNs.

The importance of patching security vulnerabilities

50 security vulnerabilities may seem overwhelming, but by identifying and patching them, Google is keeping both you and your Pixel phone safe from potential hacker attacks. Regular updates are the first line of defense against these threats.

Keeping your Pixel smartphone updated with the latest security patches is essential to protect it from vulnerabilities and potential exploits.

Thanks to Google’s proactive measures and diligence in installing updates, you can protect your device and enjoy the unique features that make Pixel phones stand out.

In mid-April, Tech Times reported that the Google Pixel 9 lineup would offer emergency satellite connectivity. It’s similar with the Emergency SOS function on iPhone via satellite.
