Apple’s new mantra will apply to major Apple devices, including the iPhone

Last month, we heard for the first time about the new iPhone model, which is to replace the iPhone 16 Plus in 2025, the iPhone Slim. Haitong Securities’ Jeff Pu discussed this model almost exactly a month ago. The phone will have a slimmer design, a 6.6-inch display and a higher price than the iPhone 17 Pro Max.

Another report states that this device will have an aluminum chassis, smaller cutouts at the top of the screen for Dynamic Island, and an improved FaceTime front-facing camera. The rear camera module will move from the left corner of the rear panel to the top center.

Today, Bloomberg’s chief technology correspondent Mark Gurman provided more information about the iPhone 17 lineup in his weekly Power On newsletter. According to Gurman, who has multiple sources and contacts within the company, what Apple did with the incredibly slim iPad Pro (2024) tablets released last month is just the beginning of a trend toward thinner Apple products, including the MacBook, Apple Watch, and iPhone ‘and.

Gurman says he was told that Apple was working on developing a “significantly thinner phone with an eye on the iPhone 17 line in 2025.” This sounds like Gurman is talking about one specific model in the iPhone 17 series, which disproves previous reports about the iPhone Slim, which is expected to be released in 2025. A Bloomberg writer says Apple wants to offer consumers the thinnest and lightest products in every category of device it sells.

At one point, Apple was forced to increase the thickness of its devices to accommodate larger batteries, improved cameras, and more features. But thanks to impressive new chips and tandem OLED technology that gives the new M4 iPad Pro tablets a thinner display, the latter is significantly thinner than the previous 2022 version of the premium tablets.

For example, the 13-inch iPad Pro (2024) is only 5.1 mm thick, which is 20% thinner than the 6.4 mm of the 2022 model. The 13-inch iPad Pro (2024) also tips the scales at 1.28 pounds compared to 1.5 pounds on the previous model. Thinner and lighter could become Apple’s mantra over the next few years.
