Apple intends to launch its thinnest devices ever, including MacBook Pro and iPhone 17: report

Apple iPhone 15 Pro

According to Apple, its mission is to create the thinnest products ever BloombergMarek Gurman. These ambitions don’t end with the iPad Pro; the company also plans to slim down the MacBook Pro, Apple Watch and iPhone. Gurman suggests that Apple is ready to introduce a “new class of Apple devices” that will be the thinnest and lightest in their categories in the entire technology industry.

Supporting previous iPhone rumors, Gurman mentions that a thinner iPhone could debut as early as 2025 with the iPhone 17 line. This sleek new model is expected to be more expensive than the current iPhone Pro Max and will have a screen size between the Pro Max and the standard iPhone. However, there is no timetable yet for the release of other thinner products.

Over the last few years, it seemed like Apple was prioritizing other aspects over making devices thinner and lighter. The MacBook Pro has become thicker to accommodate larger batteries, more powerful processors and additional ports. Apple Watch introduced a more powerful Ultra model with more features and longer battery life. Similarly, the iPhone has become slightly thicker to accommodate better cameras and larger batteries.

Premiere of new products iPad Pro in May signaled a return to Apple’s thinner design philosophy. This ultra-slim tablet retained the same battery life as previous models, had an impressive screen, and included an M4 chip that made it as powerful as a desktop computer. Apple has apparently figured out how to make its devices thinner while adding significant new features.

Gurman points out that Apple is now focusing on developing a much thinner iPhone for the iPhone 17 line for 2025. In parallel, work is underway to slim down the MacBook Pro and Apple Watch. The latest iPad Pro seems to be the beginning of this trend, heralding a new era of ultra-thin and light Apple devices.
