South Korean companies are opening a K-food section on Amazon

South Korean small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) will showcase Korean food (K-food) on Amazon, the world’s largest e-commerce platform, the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs and the Korea Agro-Fisheries & Food Trade Corporation (aT) announced on Sunday.

The ministry and aT have launched a Korean food section on Amazon to increase K-food exports.

In the initial phase of the section’s operation, 10 domestic companies sell 20 products, including ready-made meals such as bibimbap, perilla oil and soy milk.

To establish the K-food section, the ministry and AT invited domestic SMEs producing processed food to submit applications in February and March.

47 companies qualified to participate in the competition. The additional recruitment is expected to increase the number of participating companies to 70 and the number of products to approximately 300 by the end of the year.

The ministry also plans to increase the number of Korean grocery sections in overseas online malls from 11 at the end of last year to 17 by the end of this year.
