A report suggests that Apple devices will soon become super-thin

Remember when phone manufacturers raced to make their phones as thin as possible? This trend has slowed down significantly over the last few years, but it looks like Apple is going to bring it back in a big way.

The company recently launched the new iPad Pro OLED. Under the slogan “thinpossible”, Apple highlighted this device as the thinnest Apple device ever.

According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, Apple isn’t done with slimming down (what? If “thin” can be a word, then you can also “thin out” your product portfolio. In the latest issue of his Power On newsletter, Gurman claims that Apple plans to release a “much thinner ” phone in 2025. The company is also reportedly working on making the MacBook Pro and Apple Watch thinner.

In fact, Apple’s super-slim iPad Pro is just the beginning of a new class of Apple devices that should be “the thinnest and lightest products in their categories in the entire technology industry.”

This isn’t the first time we’ve heard about Apple’s plans to make the iPhone thinner. In May, Information reported that a new, thinner iPhone could replace the current Pro model design, though details were similarly scarce.

If reports are accurate, this would represent quite a big change in Apple’s strategy. Over the past few years, Apple MacBook Pro devices, as well as iPhones and Apple Watches, have remained roughly the same size and even become larger compared to the previous generation. Apple’s focus on making its devices thinner and lighter again will likely spark a new race in which other manufacturers will fight to overtake Apple.
