OMV Petrom is finalizing the acquisition of the largest Romanian electromobility network

OMV Petrom, the largest integrated energy producer in Southeastern Europe, has successfully completed the acquisition of Renovatio Asset Management. Renovatio owns the largest electric vehicle charging network in Romania, currently including over 400 charging points, and is planned to expand to approximately 650 by 2026.

The transaction, which has received approval from the Competition Council and the Foreign Direct Investment Monitoring Commission, represents a significant step for OMV Petrom in expanding its presence in the electric mobility sector.

At the end of the first quarter of 2024, the OMV and Petrom networks had a total of approximately 300 charging points.

Radu Căprău, member of the OMV Petrom Management Board responsible for refining and marketing, commented on the acquisition, stating: “With the completion of this acquisition, OMV Petrom becomes the largest player in the electric mobility market in Romania. Our ambition is to install 1,000 charging points in Romania, Bulgaria, Serbia and Moldova by the end of this year. Our goal is to maintain our position as the preferred choice for customers and strengthen our leadership position in the Romanian mobility segment.”
