A department official explained, “Many projects, initiatives and programs are currently being implemented across the state to enhance manpower capacity and promote entrepreneurship among young people. Various educational institutions offer a range of skill-oriented courses at different levels and in different fields. Coordination of these efforts is essential to effectively create a high-quality workforce and incubate businesses, which is what this policy seeks to do.

Nowadays, Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) across Maharashtra offer various skill-oriented courses. In addition, many universities and autonomous colleges have begun to offer master’s-level courses tailored to specific skills, especially those that meet local industry requirements. To further encourage entrepreneurship, many state universities have established incubator centers or startup clinics.

“Although these programs run in parallel, it is extremely important to avoid duplication. A coordinated approach at various levels will help in developing quality manpower for various industries,” the official added. The committee is expected to come up with a draft policy within a month.
