Tourism fund almost finalized, says Sandiaga – Regulations

Tourism and Creative Economy Minister Sandiaga Uno says the presidential regulation on the Indonesia Tourism Fund, which aims to attract more foreign tourists to Indonesia, is in its final stages and is taking into account input from various ministries.

“(The regulation) was coordinated by pitch (Mr.) Luhut Pandjaitan and is currently being finalized,” Sandiaga said on Sunday, as quoted by Bisnis.comreferring to the minister coordinating maritime affairs and investments.

“It will be submitted (as a legal basis) for the preparation of the Indonesian Tourism Fund,” the minister continued, emphasizing that the fund will not burden tourists because it will be entirely financed by 2 trillion rupiah ($122 million) from the state budget.

Sandiaga said he hoped the regulation would “ideally” be issued before the end of President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo’s second and final term in four months, so that the fund would take effect in 2025.

“So it might be released in September or October,” he said.
