Frost Warning for Parts of Alabama Tonight: How Cold Could It Get?

A real dose of fall weather will be in the air across Alabama today, and a frost advisory has been issued for parts of the state overnight tonight.

Wednesday morning was cool in most places, with temperatures generally in the 30s and 40s.

Here’s a look at temperatures in a few cities as of 6 a.m. Wednesday, using data from the National Weather Service:

Today, the cool weather trend is expected to continue.

The National Weather Service is forecasting high temperatures today that will only reach the 60s across most of the state, including southern Alabama.

Wednesday highs

Tonight, temperatures will be the coldest of the season and frost advisories will go into effect for northern and part of north-central Alabama (forecast lows for tonight can be found at the top of this article).

Low temperatures tonight will fall into the 30s for all of southern Alabama except the South, which is expected to land in the 40s.

A frost advisory will go into effect at 1 a.m. Thursday for all of North Alabama:

The Huntsville Weather Service said temperatures could drop as low as 34 degrees in the area overnight.

Another frost advisory will be in effect for north central Alabama:

The frost advisory for central Alabama will go into effect at 3 a.m. Thursday.NWS

The National Weather Service in Birmingham said temperatures in the advisory area could also drop as low as 34 degrees overnight.

Temperatures are expected to be a few degrees warmer Thursday, but will remain much cooler than Alabamians are accustomed to. Here are the highest forecasts for Thursday:

The weather service expects temperatures to warm a few degrees through Friday and the weekend, with the 80s expected to return to some places by Sunday and across more of the state during the week next.
