Carlsberg announces two appointments to management positions

Carlsberg has appointed Esther Wu as its new chief information officer and executive committee member.

Wu took up her new position on June 3 and will lead Carlsberg’s digital transformation, which is a key pillar of the Accelerate Sail strategy.

He brings extensive technology experience and strategic and operational knowledge of Carlsberg’s IIT functions.

Since 2019, Wu has served as vice president of IIT Asia and a member of IIT Carlsberg’s global leadership team.

He has over 20 years of experience in technology and digital transformation, having held various senior technology roles in global companies.

Before joining Carlsberg, she was head of strategic planning and IT transformation at Chanel.

Head of Marketing

Elsewhere, Carlsberg has named Yves Briantais its new chief marketing officer and member of the executive committee, effective August 19, 2024.

Briantais will join the brewer from Colgate-Palmolive, where he most recently served as global executive vice president of design and creative capabilities.

He is a seasoned executive with 25 years of global, regional and local experience across a variety of marketing disciplines, Carlsberg noted.

During his time at Colgate-Palmolive, he held several senior management positions, including cluster, regional, category marketing, and global roles as vice president of global design and packaging, vice president of marketing for Europe, and executive vice president for marketing in Asia and the Pacific.

Commenting on the appointments, group CEO Jacob Aarup-Andersen said: “With their strong track record and global experience, they are well-positioned to enhance and support the continued execution of our Accelerate Sail strategy.”

In April this year, the Danish brewer reported first-quarter sales slightly above expectations as it sold more of its premium beer brands and saw price increases in all major markets.
