Hyderabad: The North Zone police have warned the owners and management of hotels and lodges about the precautions to take as part of the regular management of the establishment.

At a security meeting held with the representatives on Wednesday, Zonal DCP Rashmi Perumal asked the lodges to operate within the framework of the law, including the Telangana State Public Safety Act, Regulations on commercial licenses and the BNSS.

She recalled that recently, Hotel Metropolis near Secunderabad railway station was used to organize month-long large gatherings with participants from different states. Specifically, one of the participants in this gathering is the accused involved in the desecration of a temple. The organizer of this event had mobilized around 151 members and claimed to organize English and personality development classes in the hotel premises.

“More than 50 rooms have also been rented to accommodate the congregation. The organizer and the hotel management have not taken any authorization or informed the local authorities for the holding of this event. In this context, the decision has been taken to suspend the business license of the hotel and sealing of its premises is being carried out in accordance with law by the authorities concerned, besides booking a case to Gopalpuram P.S.,” said the DCP.

Instructions were given at the meeting including maintaining the visitor register on the appropriate lines and promptly submitting daily entries to the local police station.

In addition, the identification documents of those staying in the lodge must be left on site for easy reading. The installation of video surveillance with backup is mandatory according to the Public Security Act and must be respected.

They were advised to ensure the presence of a sufficient number of security guards on the premises. More than 200 hotel and lodge owners or representatives were present.
