Sweden fines Nasdaq $9.6 million for regulatory violations

STOCKHOLM (Reuters) – Sweden’s financial regulator has fined Nasdaq Stockholm 100 million Swedish crowns ($9.59 million) for repeatedly failing to comply with exchange rules in recent years, the regulator said in a statement on Wednesday.

“The investigation found that in connection with… four events at the company, there were deficiencies in the way Nasdaq Stockholm conducted trading monitoring that should have prevented, identified and reported insider trading,” it said.

“The investigation also found that Nasdaq Stockholm initiated trading in financial instruments in violation of the regulatory framework on two occasions.”
