The Japanese House releases new song “:)”

The Japanese House, Amber Bain’s project, is back with a new song titled “:)”. Bain produced the song herself along with 1975’s George Daniel and Chloe Kraemer. He is opening for a number of shows in support of Maggie Rogers and her own North American tour. Listen to it below.

“‘Smiley Face’ is a song I wrote when I was really excited about talking to someone on a dating app,” Bain explained in a statement. “She lived in Detroit and I dreamed of going to meet her. I was in a session on other people’s stuff at the time, but I couldn’t stop myself from releasing this song, I was in a sort of frenzy. It turned out that I bought plane tickets and now we are engaged.

“:)” is Japanese House’s first release since last year’s album After all, that’s how it always is.
