LEESVILLE, La. (KPLC) – Vernon Parish has issued a parish-wide burning ban, effective immediately due to dry conditions.

This burning ban includes open flames in fire pits, campfires, barrels, bonfires and burn piles. Outdoor cooking is permitted, but residents are encouraged to take safety precautions and keep a water source or fire extinguisher nearby.

Vernon joins Allen and Jeff Davis in banning burning. A Red Flag Warning is in place for all of SWLA as dry air and gusty winds move through the area.
