Now he returns with a 20-minute video on the subject after being banned from Twitch. Part of his video addresses the incident itself and includes an apology, while the other half instead gives insight into how he plans to do better.

“I said something disgusting about it,” he said in the video below. “I said I didn’t care if innocent people were killed by another force, by anything, and I think that’s a horrible, disgusting, petty thing to say.”

Part of the criticism leveled against Asmongold after its broadcast was that it was racist towards Palestinians. Asmongold also addressed this topic in the video and said he did not feel racist, but rather admitted that his wording should have been more precise. He said he had always been outspoken against religious extremism and acknowledged that he should not have “categorized everyone in the region” when speaking generally on the subject.

Many of Asmongold’s most viral clips of late have centered around negativity or hot takes directed at specific games, with this Israeli-Palestinian conflict controversy seemingly being the tipping point now. He thanked those who reached out to him to call him out and said the backlash was something he personally needed, while acknowledging he was turning more toward a “mean” version of himself.

“I think it’s been going on now for about two years,” he said. “I think I’ve slowly become the most petty – I don’t even really know what the word for it is. Just the meanest, rudest, meanest, most insensitive, most psychopathic version of myself. I think I set out on this path, and a lot of my friends have told me that.

The streamer also acknowledged this topic in the second half of his video and said that he was literally going to clean up his life and considered it a necessary penance.

“I’m going to try to clean part of my house,” Asmongold said. “I’m going to try to do it and I’m not going to hire a housekeeper. Like I said, I was raised Catholic and I consider it a penance, and I think I need to do it for myself. I need to take responsibility for the bad things I’ve done and for letting my life spiral out of control, and I don’t need a Get Out of Jail Free card, so I need to do this for myself and for myself. closing as well. »
