The Washington state government allocates almost PLN 900,000 to the youngest children. dollars

The Western Australian Government has awarded a total of $889,686 to improve early childhood outcomes through programs tailored to the needs of individual communities.

Local Government Area Authorities (LGAs) have provided almost $900,000 in funding to deliver initiatives to improve the wellbeing and school readiness of children aged five and under.

Twelve local governments will receive funding through the Australian Census Local Government Early Development (AEDC) grant program.

LGAs will work with families, early childhood education networks, Aboriginal community-led organisations, schools, early childhood education and care services, playgroups and other local government and non-government organizations to meet the development needs of young children.

Grant winners will complete a number of projects that include:

  • developing action plans for the youngest years;
  • providing targeted literacy and educational programs focused on AEDC;
  • employment of coordinators for early school education;
  • development and expansion of Early Years Networks; AND
  • implementing programs specifically aimed at Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children.

“Access to high-quality childcare and care services plays an important role in regional economies, enabling parents to return to work and supporting regional businesses,” said Sabine Winton, Minister for Early Years Education.

AEDC provides vital information to support local governments in shaping early childhood initiatives and policies in their community, providing a population-wide measure of child development in five areas and helping Western Australian communities understand how their young children are developing.

The sixth national AEDC data collection is currently underway in schools.

The Australian Census Local Government Early Development Grant Scheme is funded by the Commonwealth Government in partnership with the Western Australian Government and the Western Australian Local Government Association.
