Search and Support San Antonio aims to help families of missing people

SAN ANTONIO – The case of Suzanne Clark Simpson, a missing mother of four from Olmos Park, is receiving national attention.

For those who work with Search and Support San Antonio, it’s a never-give-up mentality. The nonprofit helps find missing people and advocates for families in times of need.

“All we need is one person to provide a piece of the missing puzzle that may be able to help us bring a missing loved one home,” said Lori Wittmeyer of Search and Support San Antonio. “The idea is: introduce the missing family member to as many people as possible, and hopefully other leads will come forward. »

In previous cases, Wittmeyer and Nina Brooks, of the nonprofit, said they asked cadaver dogs to help with searches. The organization also has team members who can create age progression photos and rent space to display missing persons on bulletin boards.

Search and Assistance San Antonio has also begun using artificial intelligence technology so missing people can defend themselves.

“For someone who’s been missing for years, maybe fliers and searches aren’t the best thing to do,” Wittmeyer said. “But maybe get the family on the news, maybe post on social media. Maybe these are the right things to do.
