Central Texas pastor shares support for former president by praying for Donald Trump ahead of presidential election

WACO, Texas (KWTX) – A Central Texas pastor is not only praying for Donald Trump’s reelection, he’s physically laying his hands on the former president.

Pastor Ramiro Peña is known for his ministry work in Waco and around the world. This week, Peña was at a Latino roundtable with the former president, where he led the prayer.

He’s back in Waco today at a Keep the Faith in America fundraiser, and we had a chance to talk with him about the work he does and why.

“On behalf of my family, my children, my grandchildren… I feel like I have to stand up and make my voice heard,” Peña said.

Last Tuesday, she was in Miami for former President Trump’s town hall with Latino voters.

“I was able to pray for him then, and it was a very glorious and beautiful time,” Peña said.

But they actually have a history dating back to 2016.

“The RNC reached out to me and asked me to come and meet him at Trump Tower in New York when he was a candidate and running and… so I did and joined what became his Hispanic Advisory Council,” Peña explained, “then the relationship blossomed from there.” .

While Trump was in office, Peña was a White House Commissioner and part of the Opportunity and Faith Initiative. He continues to show his support ever since.

“There are a few pastors who pray with him pretty regularly now, and occasionally I am called to do the same,” Peña said.

Peña is also an advocate for the Latino community; He describes them as pro-family, pro-work ethic, and pro-faith.

“Those values really permeate the fabric of society, and I think they tend to be closer to the values that are espoused here,” he shared.

That’s why he became and continues to be Trump’s defender. And now, with the general election just days away, Peña is using his ministry to encourage people to go vote.

“Encouraging people to vote for their values, to vote for biblical values, to encourage people to vote for values and policies and not for a party is the most important thing,” he said.

Peña is the senior pastor of Christ the King Baptist Church in Waco, with a ministry that reaches all 50 states and over a hundred different countries.

He has also had the honor of speaking to and praying for leaders around the world.
