A new era of postal services in Kazakhstan

A joint venture of JSC “Kazpost” and the Chinese company “YTO Express Co.” opened in Almaty.

The launch of a postal delivery joint venture is the first step in a strategic partnership between these companies, aimed at developing e-commerce, expanding trade and creating a logistics hub between Central Asia and Europe.

E-commerce is one of the fastest growing economic sectors, generating approximately $7 trillion of global GDP annually. Therefore, Kazakhstan pays special attention to the development of e-commerce. China’s “One Belt, One Road” initiative has created significant opportunities for mutually beneficial cooperation between JSC “Kazpost” and “YTO Express Co.”

This Chinese public logistics company is among the top ten largest logistics companies in the country and is among the top five largest express delivery companies in China. Its headquarters is located in Shanghai. YTO Express courier services operate in all major cities in mainland China, as well as in Hong Kong, South Korea, Japan and Taiwan.

During the ceremonial event at the Information and Logistics Center “POŁUDNIE”, the technological process of integrating postal shipments was presented with the participation of the company’s leading managers. The project focuses on the direct delivery of e-commerce goods from the largest Chinese online stores to Kazakhstan.

Integration of postal services allows you to reduce the amount of manual work and human errors associated with handling postal items. It also saves on postage, printing and storage expenses by digitizing mail and sending it electronically when possible. Postal services integration also helps you track and manage postal assets, avoid delays and losses, and ensure compliance with postal regulations and security standards. Additionally, the integration of postal services enables faster and more personalized customer service.

Speakers at the event also mentioned that the integration of postal services can automatically carry out the entire process. Just connect your online store to the service and configure parameters and email templates.

After making a purchase, the website automatically generates and sends a personalized card and coupon to the customer’s address. The service also provides email campaign tracking and analysis, such as the number of cards delivered, opened and redeemed, and their impact on sales and retention rates. In this way, the postal company saves time and money, increases customer satisfaction and develops its profitable business.

President of the Management Board of JSC “Kazpost” Asel Zhanasova emphasized the importance of this event, stating:

This important event was preceded by extensive work that united the employees of both companies into a coherent and united team. Thanks to their efforts and state-of-the-art solutions, IT integration was created. It is planned to build a distribution center in Almaty together with a Chinese partner, with the support of the President of Kazakhstan Kasym-Jomart Tokayev. The joint venture was made possible thanks to the Memorandum of Bilateral Cooperation signed last year in Beijing, which aims to strengthen trade and logistics links between China, Central Asia and Europe.

This partnership is particularly important in the context of expanding trade and economic cooperation in the region. The postal delivery joint venture will ensure fast handling of goods destined for the EU, EAEU and Central Asia. The implementation of intelligent IT solutions will fully automate logistics processes and ensure customs handling of deliveries. The construction of modern multimodal warehouses in Almaty, Turkestan, Aktobe and the Almaty region, as well as an extensive network of branches of SA “Kazpost” will create a base for various markets. SA “Kazpost”, in cooperation with the YTO Group, opened an enterprise capable of handling e-commerce goods, including warehousing, customs clearance and handling all processes ensuring the availability of e-commerce goods. Additionally, a warehouse with an area of 40,000 sq m. will increase the volume of shipments from China to the European Union, Central Asia and the EEU, optimize air cargo routes and create air hubs in Kazakhstan. SA “Kazpost” acts as the customs representative of the YTO Express Group in the field of handling customs declarations for export-import operations. JSC “Kazpost” has taken a confident step to become a logistics and trade center and a key player in the development of cross-border e-commerce and cargo transportation between China and Kazakhstan.
