In the wake of alleged irregularities in competitive exams like NEET-UG and NET, the Uttar Pradesh government is planning to implement new rules to ensure that recruitment exams in the state are conducted in a free and fair manner.

According to government sources, four agencies will be responsible for conducting the recruitment exams.

Moreover, candidates will have to go outside their home (Grih Mandal) to appear for the exams. However, this restriction will not apply to disabled people and women. Sources also said that if more than four million candidates appear for the exam, it will be conducted in two phases.

To prevent falsification of results, scanning of OMR sheets will be carried out by the Commission and the Council itself. A decision was also made to establish examination centers. Two categories have been created for this purpose.

The first category includes inter-school government colleges, medical colleges and engineering colleges. The second category included schools receiving aid. Sources also said that without financial support, examination centers will not be established in schools and colleges.

It is worth noting that on February 24, the Uttar Pradesh Police Recruitment and Promotion Commission had canceled the written examination for direct recruitment 2023 for Reserved Civil Police posts in the Uttar Pradesh Police following allegations of question paper leak.

More than 48 lakh candidates appeared in the police officer recruitment examination in Uttar Pradesh on February 17 and 18. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said the government has decided to cancel the police officer recruitment examination held across the state on February 17 and 18, following the alleged leak of question papers.

The document leak also led the Uttar Pradesh government to sack Renuka Mishra, chairperson of the Uttar Pradesh Police Recruitment Board. Rajeev Krishna has been given additional responsibilities as the chairman of the selection committee.

The Uttar Pradesh government has also issued an order to probe alleged irregularities and manipulations in the hearing of the Reviewing Officer/Assistant Review Officer (RO/ARO), not only in the newspaper but also at the government level.
