The General Superintendent of Deeper Christian Life Ministry (DCLM), Pastor William Folorunso Kumuyi, has urged Nigeria and other nations of the world to mainstream youth initiatives and develop comprehensive youth transformation policies.

In a communiqué issued yesterday at the concluding session of the IMPACT 2020 Global Youth Assembly in Lagos, DCLM expressed regret at the treatment of youth as a monolithic entity without division into age, education and occupational classification in various government policies.

“There are no appropriate platforms for young people to express themselves in a healthy way, which leads many to resort to various anti-social and anti-state behaviors.”

She recommended that the government and other stakeholders prioritize core issues affecting teenagers, campus students and young adults when developing a comprehensive youth policy.

“A comprehensive youth policy should be developed, taking into account issues specific to different categories of youth. The transformation agenda must include global youth-focused initiatives to address issues in the world of young people,” it said.

The Church recommended filling the void in the social life of young people by strengthening civic, moral and ethical values in the curriculum.

“Governments at all levels should mainstream youth development initiatives, fund and implement intervention programs with a greater youth focus,” he added.

Present at the event were his wife, Mrs. Esther Kumuyi; Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Kupolati Taiwo; co-chair of the organizing committee, prof. Olukayode Oyediran and other senior pastors of the church.
