J&K Trade Fair Reflects an Era of Opportunity: LG Sinha

Srinagar, June 21 (KNS): Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha inaugurated J&K Trade Show 2024 at the Kashmir Heritage Government Arts Emporium in Srinagar.

In his speech, the governor welcomed craftsmen, weavers, breeders and entrepreneurs. He lauded the efforts of the Industries and Commerce department and the J&K Trade and Promotion Organization (JKTPO) for promoting diverse sectors of handicrafts, handlooms, agriculture and horticulture.

“The J&K Trade Show reflects that the Union Territory of Jammu Kashmir has ushered in an era of opportunity. It also reaffirms our commitment to create a vibrant business and trade ecosystem at UT and provide a new identity for J&K’s unique cultural and artistic heritage in the global market,” the Lt. Governor said.

The Lt Governor highlighted the key initiatives of the UT administration, under the leadership of Honorable Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, to bring reforms in the agriculture, handloom and handicrafts sectors.

“We formulate and implement policies keeping in mind the rich culture, heritage and agricultural excellence of the region to ensure sustainable growth and job creation. I am glad that one district, one product creates economic opportunities,” said the deputy governor.

Our mantra of ‘Reform, Act and Transform’ has brought positive change in the lives of artisans, weavers, farmers, entrepreneurs and other stakeholders, the Deputy Governor added.

Speaking during the Prime Minister’s recent visit to J&K, the Lieutenant Governor said that the Prime Minister conducting programs like International Yoga Day and ‘Empowering Youth, Transforming J&K’ has given a new impetus to the development of Jammu Kashmir.

Highlighting development opportunities in sectors such as industry, handicrafts, handlooms, agriculture and allied sectors, food processing and agro-food industries, the Lt Governor urged artisans, weavers, buyers, manufacturers and entrepreneurs to contribute to realizing the potential of Jammu Kashmir.

Earlier, the Governor visited the stalls of artisans, weavers, cultivators and entrepreneurs from J&K and other regions, showcasing their products to buyers from India and abroad.

Atal Dulloo, Chief Secretary; Vidhi Kumar Birdi, IGP Kashmir; Vikramjit Singh, Secretary to the Commissioner, Department of Industry and Commerce; Vijay Bidhuri, Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir; Sh Khalid Jahangir, Managing Director, JKTPO, senior officials, industry representatives, traders, domestic and international exhibitors were also present.(KNS).
