Soludo denies applying for political appointments

Governor-elect of Anambra State, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, rejected claims that he required those wishing to work in his government to submit formal applications.

Soludo’s refusal followed a statement issued by the executive director of the 80-member Inauguration Interim Committee on behalf of its chairman, Prof. May Ezekwesili, which indicated that only those who comply will join the new administration.

However, in a swift response, the commission asked citizens to ignore the report, stating that the newly elected Governor of Soludo did not consent to such a statement.

However, The Guardian has learned that the committee did not deny being the author of the letter, but may not have consented to its publication.

The response titled: Re: Leaked Talent Sighting Initiative Document, signed by the anonymous Executive Director of the Transition Committee on behalf of the Chairman of the Anambra State Transition Committee, Dr. Oba Ezekwesili, gave credence to the fact that it was a leaked document.

It was also learned that an online database for expressions of interest and submission of credentials had been set up but was partially closed.

“It has come to our attention that an erroneous memorandum enjoining citizens to seek political nominations in Anambra State is being circulated on various digital platforms.

“We apologize for this situation and ask citizens to ignore the document and the spread of misinformation,” the statement reads.
