Eighth Annual LCSO Patrol Walk Raises Over $25,000 for Breast Cancer Research

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – Local first responders are working to support the fight against breast cancer as part of the Leon County Sheriff’s Office’s eighth annual Patrol Walk.

The money raised during the event will be donated to the American Cancer Society, in particular to help in the fight against breast cancer. Their goal this year was to raise $25,000, and thanks to numerous donations, they have already reached this goal.

More news from Tallahassee:

LCSO spokeswoman Shonda Knight said the main attraction was the first responder fashion show. 20 first responders have been raising money for the American Cancer Society, and their efforts will culminate Thursday night as they strut their stuff on the runway.

“Many of them who are marching tonight are marching in honor of loved ones who have won their battles, others who have lost their battles, and so it’s a cause that you know impacts everything the world,” Knight said. “And so the first responder community just wants to come out in force to say that we’re here for you, and we’re going to do our part to make sure that a cure is eventually found.”
