The Association of Insolvency Counselors announces the departure of its CEO

The Insolvency Practitioners Association (IPA) has announced that Paul Smith, its chief executive, will step down later this year.

Smith joined IPA in 2021 after a distinguished career in financial services.

The IPA says Smith has made significant contributions over the past three years. Under his leadership, the IPA took part in the government’s consultation on the future of insolvency regulation and participated constructively in the following discussions with insolvency services and recognized professional bodies to establish a new regulatory framework.

Smith said: “It has been an honor to lead the IPA through such a transformational period. I am confident that I will leave the IPA in a strong position to influence the future development of insolvency rules in a positive, constructive and progressive way. I look forward to seeing how IPA continues to innovate and lead the industry.”

IPA CEO Adrian Hyde said: “We are grateful to Paul for his leadership during a period of industry reform and wish him all the best in his future endeavors. We are now committed to finding a successor who will continue Paul’s excellent work and lead IPA into its next chapter.”

Saxton Bampfylde, Executive Search agents, were appointed by the IPA Board to search for a Deputy CEO prior to Paul’s departure.
