Mammoet construction crane for the construction of larger wind turbines

Offshore workers

UTRECHT, The Netherlands — Mammoet has started the assembly of the new SK6000 ring crane at its facility in Westdorpe, the Netherlands.

The all-electric crane, with a maximum capacity of 6,000 tonnes, will be able to lift components weighing up to 3,000 tonnes to a height of 220 m, including offshore wind turbines and foundation structures.

The company added that this lifting power should allow for more efficient construction from larger components, which will benefit the project logistics, integration and mobilization stages.

Once all parts have been transported to Westdorpe, initial work includes the assembly of the crane base frame, power supplies and control room.

Auxiliary cranes supporting the assembly process include two 250-meter crawler cranes and a 140-meter Gottwald mobile harbor crane.
