There is no sign of new CMF devices – everything revolves around wheels and discs

Nothing’s CMF sub-brand is gearing up to launch a collection of new devices and isn’t shy about teasing them ahead of time.

CMF Tech will launch the CMF Phone 1, Watch Pro 2 and Buds Pro 2 on July 8. The former is the company’s first smartphone and has been the subject of many leaks and teases.

CMF recently teased that the Phone 1 will come with a screwdriver, and it looks like you’ll be able to open the phone yourself for DIY repairs. The company’s latest announcement shows the bolt being removed, while the background of the CMF website also appears to show the corner disc being completely removed.

Internal access will likely be provided for battery replacement as this is the most common component to become damaged and deteriorate with age and use.

Previously, phones would open up to allow access to the SIM tray and microSD card slot, but it looks like the CMF screwdriver is also a tool for opening the SIM tray, so it seems these items will be handled in the conventional way.

The CMF Phone 1 is expected to have a 6.7-inch AMOLED display, be powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 7200, and have a 5,000mAh battery, loosely related to the Nothing phone (2a).

Moving forward, CMF is also teasing its new Buds Pro 2. Specifically, CMF is teasing the dial on the case, calling it the Smart Dial.

In standard CMF Buds, there is a knob in the corner of the case that allows you to add a lanyard. However, this tease shows that you can click the knob to turn on the noise-cancelling feature while simultaneously turning it to adjust the volume.

This suggests that the case remains part of the experience and isn’t just there for storage and charging, as is the case with almost all other true wireless headphones.

Finally, CMF showed off the Watch Pro 2. While it’s a large, static image (at the beginning of this story), there are some more interesting elements.

It looks like the frame can be removed. This comes in the middle of another teaser showing off all three devices – but it actually also appeared in a post on the X earlier this month.

This could suggest repairability or personalization, allowing you to change the bezel to give the smartwatch a bit of color or a different feature.

All these elements refer to the design-based style that CMF wants to convey to its customers. The company loves large, touchscreen dials, and even in these devices – which are supposed to be at an affordable price – there is room for an innovative design that makes them stand out. So will the CMF Phone 1 be the best cheap phone of the year?
