AWS Announces $50 Million AI Generation Initiative for Public Sector

At the AWS event in Washington, the company unveiled the AWS Public Sector Artificial Intelligence (AI) Strike Initiative, a two-year, $50 million investment aimed at accelerating AI innovation in public sector organizations.

An initiative that will last from June 26, 2024 to June 30, 2026aims to support critical missions in the government, nonprofit, education, health, and aerospace sectors through AWS’s AI generative intelligence services and infrastructure, including Amazon Bedrock, Amazon Q, Amazon SageMaker, AWS HealthScribe, AWS Trainium, and AWS Inferentia.

The initiative will provide up to $50 million in AWS promotional credits, training and technical expertise. Factors such as the customer’s experience with technology solutions, project maturity, evidence of future implementation and generative AI skills will be taken into account when determining credit approval.

This program is open to both new and existing global public sector AWS customers and partners who are building generative AI solutions to address pressing societal challenges.

Public sector leaders are increasingly looking to generative AI to increase efficiency and agility in the face of challenges such as resource optimization, changing needs, improved patient care, personalized education and increased safety.

AWS strives to help these organizations leverage generative AI and cloud technologies to make a positive impact on society.

“This initiative builds on our ongoing commitment to the safe and responsible development of artificial intelligence technologies,” said Dave Levy, vice president of AWS Public Sector. “We contribute to programs like the National Artificial Intelligence Research Resource and the American Institute for Artificial Intelligence Security Consortium to ensure the safe and ethical development of artificial intelligence.”

The initiative will offer tailored training, expertise from the Generative AI Innovation Center, technical support, networking opportunities and global thought leadership platforms. These resources are designed to help public sector entities develop, identify and implement safe generative AI solutions.
