The City of Reno Launches DROPS Mobile App to Revolutionize Unprotected Coverage Efforts

RENO, Nevada, June 26, 2024 /PRNewswire/ — City of Renoin partnership with ServiceNow and NewRocket, is proud to announce the launch of DROPS (Direct Resource Outreach & Placement Service), a groundbreaking mobile application designed to transform the way social service workers help people without shelter. Reno Mayor Hillary Schieve emphasized the impact of this initiative: “DROPS is a game changer in our city. By equipping our news team with this innovative technology, we are taking a huge step forward in our efforts to address homelessness. This app will help us make more informed decisions directly with the community we serve and provide resources when they are needed most.”

Introducing DROPS: the complete coverage solution

DROPS is a mobile app that helps aid workers by giving them the tools they need to effectively support the vulnerable community. The application has a number of features aimed at increasing the efficiency and effectiveness of information activities:

  1. Profile collection: Mobile input of valuable demographic data creates shared knowledge that results in deeper insights into the unsecured community. This feature enables aid workers to quantify the impact of their efforts and better understand the needs of the people they serve.
  2. Track meetings and trips: DROPS enables employees to record the history of interactions with each vulnerable neighbor, creating a consolidated, digital case file. This feature provides real-time context and the ability to review the impact of early interventions.
  3. Case and task management: Employees can use a catalog of common activities and integrations with third-party services to deliver the right services at the right time. Individualized plans create a shared to-do list, increasing accountability and maximizing impact.
  4. Reporting and analytics: Leveraging ServiceNow’s AI capabilities, the solution can transform data collected by support staff into actionable insights, enabling better decision-making and trend analysis. This information helps the city quantify its impact on homelessness and identify areas where additional support and funding is needed.

Steve Maloneglobal director of partner acceleration at ServiceNow, highlighted the collaborative effort behind DROPS: “We are thrilled to be working with City of Reno and NewRocket on this innovative solution. DROPS represents significant progress in our collective efforts to meet the needs of municipalities and all those involved in meeting this challenge.”

Through compassionate collaboration with city staff and the aid community, our solution is built on trust and commitment. The goal of this partnership is to create a comprehensive ecosystem that connects necessary resources and services to those in need.
